Every time that I leave the city, whether it’s for the weekend, a few hours, or for the day, I always am so excited to return to my little Upper East Side studio. After having explored so many other neighborhoods in the city, I’m so happy to have my own little spot uptown. Perfectly tucked away from the city chaos, and close to some of my best girl friends and favorite restaurants. (Not to mention, the shopping, bakeries, and museums on this side of city are pretty amazing.)
Below, I’m listing 10 of my favorite things about being an Upper East Sider. The list could go on and on, but I thought I’d narrow it down to some of the best ones!
Top 10 best reasons to being an Upper East Sider:
Easy access to great parks like Carl Schurz Park & Central Park
Counter-terror experts are predicting that the next target for a terrorist attack will likely be a Western church, according to new counter-terror measures obtained by Mirror Online.
New counter terrorism advice has is being sent to churches across the UK, and according to the report, a terrorist attack on a church “is coming.”
Places of worship in the UK are now being urged to take precautions and increase security as they are considered “easy targets” for extremists.

The new measures come on the heels of two ISIS terrorists killing a priest in France in July. Fears are now growing that a similar attack could occur in the UK.
According to Mirror Online, the measures, called Counter Terrorism Advice for Churches, encourages religious leaders to prepare for incidents and to be on alert for attackers, who are likely to be armed with knives.
These measures are mostly aimed at small, local churches that have less security measures in place than large institutions. Recommendations include hiring security to guard the doors of churches during service and installing CCTV cameras and alarms.
The U.K. government has made a little over $3 million in security funding available to places of worship. The money is meant to be spent on security equipment, and individual churches still have to chip in 20 percent.
Some U.K. vicars also say they’ve been instructed not to wear their clerical collars in public, though both National Churchwatch and the government don’t advise priests to change their behavior. Tolson told the Mirror: “If you stop people wearing them they feel their faith is challenged. It’s about teaching people to react to the situation in front of them.”
CNN reported Tuesday that the FBI could release its full report on the Hillary Clinton email investigation as early as Wednesday — prolonging the email story that’s plagued the Clinton campaign for over a year.
It’s unclear what new information, if any at all, will be released that goes beyond FBI Director James Comey’s initial rebuke of Clinton’s handling of classified information.
Yet Democrats say they don’t think the FBI’s release of the investigation notes will fundamentally alter the state of the race, in which Clinton leads Republican nominee Donald Trump by a comfortable margin.
Click through images of Hillary Clinton through the years:
“I think that this is an issue where Hillary has admitted a misdoing and the American people have made up their minds about it,” Bill Burton, a California Democratic strategist who served as President Barack Obama’s deputy press secretary in the White House, said in an interview. “So barring some sort of big revelation, it’s just hard for me to think that anything on this issue is really going to change the contours of this race.”
Baked in the cake? The controversy around Clinton’s emails began last year, and has continued to roil even after Comey recommended against charging Clinton with any sort of crime.
Clinton continues to lead Trump by a comfortable margin in the RealClearPolitics polling average —even after a new controversy bubbled up around the charitable Clinton Foundation.
“I just think that, if you’ve decided that you think she should go to jail and you’re voting for Donald Trump, then nothing’s gunna change your mind,” Steve Schale, a Florida Democratic strategist, said in an interview. “If you’ve decided Trump is an existential threat to America and you’re gunna vote for her, then nothing is gunna change your mind. It’s all baked in the cake. And what we’re arguing about is a couple points in a couple of states. I just, at this point, really don’t think that there’s any new news on anybody that’s going to move this election.”
Similarly, even as national numbers between Clinton and Trump have tightened, she currently holds wider leads in the handful of swing states that Trump would need to sweep in order to have any shot at victory in November.
That combined led the New York Times to give Clinton an 88% chance of victory in November.
Analysts say in order to change that, Trump would not only need a bombshell in the FBI interview notes, he’d also need to erase the poor image he’s built with voters throughout the course of the campaign. A recent national Monmouth poll found Trump with only a 26% favorable rating.
Message discipline: Democratic strategists and non-partisan analysts alike add that in order to take advantage of Clinton’s email scandal, Trump would also need to deflect any negative attention away from his own campaign.
And that’s a tall task for Trump, who potentially on the same day as the FBI’s Clinton email dump will deliver a speech laying out his immigration policy, which has become a muddled mess of confusion over the past week.
If Trump attempts to abandon his promise of deporting undocumented immigrants or his signature issue of building a literal wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, he’ll be labeled as a flip-flopper — even among his most fervent supporters. If he sticks to his original plan, his support among Hispanic Americans is unlikely to grow to the level he needs to win the general election.
“It’s hard for me to believe that [the FBI email dump] is going to remake the race, because remember, I think it’s important to point out, there are other things swirling about the Trump campaign as well,” Stu Rothenberg, a non-partisan political analyst, said in an interview. “The issue of if Trump is changing his position on immigration, the issue of white nationalists around his campaign, there are other issues circulating as well.”
Additionally, throughout the race, Trump has repeatedly proven his ability to step on a good news cycle for his campaign’s cause with inflammatory comments or staff shake-ups that shift the negative news cycle toward Trump.
“In the near term, the Clinton people would rather the topic du jour not be Clinton emails or the Clinton Foundation,” Rothenberg said. “But it’s not as if … it’s automatically fatal for her.”

You can take a girl out of New Mexico, but you can’t take the New Mexico out of the girl …
I guess there is some truth to that statement. It’s been a long time since I lived in New Mexico. In fact, now, I’ve officially lived away from New Mexico for longer than I lived there. And even though my family has migrated north alongside me, I will always look at New Mexico as home. The place I grew up.
Which is probably why one of my favorite things ever are green chilies.
So the green chiles probably don’t come as a surprise if you are a reader here. Because I use them in cooking a lot. I’m a bit of a green chile addict. I think my love of those green chiles is one thing that has stuck with me from New Mexico. I vividly remember when you could drive by and see the big roasting drums out in the parking lot, and you could smell those roasting chilies from miles away. Pure heaven.
Imagine my surprise when I stop at a local grocery store, and there is a big drum of fresh Hatch green chilies being roasted. It seriously smelled like home. And of course I had to buy some – it would be a crime not to.
Creamy Hatch Green Chile Dip
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1 cup sour cream
8 Hatch green chiles, roasted, skins and seeds removed, divided
½ teaspoon ground cumin
½ teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon garlic powder
salt and pepper
tortilla chips, for serving
Place the cream cheese in a food processor and process until smooth. Add the sour cream and pulse to combine.
Roughly chop 6 of the chilies and add them to the processor along with the cumin, onion powder and garlic powder. Process until smooth. Transfer the dip to a bowl.
Chop the remaining 2 chilies. Stir into the dip. Taste, and add salt and pepper as needed.
Refrigerate the dip until ready to serve. Serve with tortilla chips.
If you don’t have a food processor, you can finely chop the chiles – the dip just won’t be as smooth.

Although summer isn’t technically over until September 21, I always get a little sad when Labor Day rolls around. It feels like the final celebration of summer, and you know fall is just around the corner. As someone who wishes it were summer all year round, I’m already starting to miss it! So before this glorious season ends, I recommend tackling this list of things you can only truly enjoy in the summertime.
1. Go to the beach!!
Duh. But seriously, don’t take those hot beach days for granted just yet. Enjoy the sun, the sound of the ocean, and the fact that “laying out” is an acceptable activity (with sunscreen of course!). Trust me, you’ll miss this when you’re shivering in winter and your skin is pale and dry.
2. Eat a popsicle.
Nothing says summer like an ice cold popsicle on a super hot day. Make sure to eat as many popsicles as you can before summer ends!
3. Wear a hat that’s too big for your head.
There’s no other time an oversized hat is acceptable besides the beach (and the Kentucky Derby). So wear that floppy sunhat proudly while you can still pull it off!
4. Eat watermelon, corn on the cob, and hot dogs.
It’s only the best meal of the year, am I right? And it only tastes good in the summertime, so eat up before it gets too cold to enjoy a refreshing slice of watermelon! And be sure to grill up some hotdogs and corn on the cob while you’re at it.
5. Run through a sprinkler.
You know, like you did when you were ten. Only you’ll have to find a random sprinkler in the park and jump through it in your clothes. I’ve done it. It’s REALLY fun.
6. Wear a romper.
You know those cute floral rompers you bought in April because you were so excited for summer? Well you better wear them now! Even if you’re sick of them because it’s all you’ve been wearing this season, you know you’ll miss them come fall.
7. Dine al fresco.
What I always miss most are those warm summer nights. There’s nothing like sitting outside for hours, eating dinner, watching the sunset, and talking with friends into the night (without freezing your butt off).
8. Play hooky.
Why did no one warn us when we were kids that we’d never got summers off ever again?? I never understood that. So why not get back that feeling and take a day off from work (or a week if you can!) and enjoy summer like you did when you were a kid. Head to the beach or the pool and just do nothing for once!
Sydney Leathers, who famously exchanged raunchy photos with Anthony Weiner in the past, has spoken out about the disgraced ex-congressmen’s latest sext scandal that has led to his separation from his wife.
Leathers, who was revealed to be the object of Weiner’s sextual affection in 2013 when he went under the alias Carlos Danger, told Inside Edition she is not surprised by new lewd photos of him surfacing.
Leathers said: “He’s quite the egomaniac. I feel like he sends the photos ’cause he wants compliments.”
See images related to the scandal:
On Monday, Weiner’s wife, Huma Abedin said in a statement: “After long and painful consideration and work on my marriage, I have made the decision to separate from my husband.”
The announcement comes just hours after the New York Post revealed yet another sexting scandal involving Weiner. This time, he allegedly sent an unidentified woman a lewd photo as his four-year-old son slept beside him.
Leathers said: “There’s no reason to be surprised anymore. God only knows how many sexting partners he really has,” she said. “It’s one thing to sext, but keep your kid out of the photos. That’s just a little bizarre.”
Weiner was reportedly in his Manhattan apartment building when he got word from his wife that the marriage was over.
Donald Trump, who has famously mocked Weiner in the past, said in a statement: “Huma is making a very wise decision. I know Anthony Weiner well, and she will be far better off without him.”
New York governor Andrew Cuomo and his brother, CNN anchor Chris Cuomo, are in hot water over their catch of a thresher shark during a fishing expedition over the weekend.
The 154.5-pound shark was caught by the Cuomos and two friends during a fishing trip on Long Island and the backlash was prompted when the governor and, later, his chief-of-staff, posted photos of the catch on Twitter.
The response online was swift, with many replying directly to the governor’s original photos.
According to international nongovernmental conservation organization International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the three species of thresher shark are currently listed as “vulnerable.”
The state of New York allows for the catching of the common thresher shark as long as the length from tip of its snout to its tail fork is at least 54 inches. However, fishing of the bigeye thresher is prohibited by state law.
A Cuomo rep told the New York Post, “This is an edible game fish that is indigenous to New York waters and catching them is allowable under both state and federal regulations.”
These facts, though, hardly helped Cuomo with public perception.
“The environment is the primary issue on the global agenda, so it is extraordinary that a senior politician could be so ignorant about it… Apex predators such as sharks are crucial for the ocean ecosystems. For a public figure to kill such an animal and then boast about it on social media is dangerously irresponsible. This shows a clear lack of judgment and calls to question his capability as a public leader.”
Cuomo gained notice in 2013 when he signed a bill that banned the sale and trade of shark fins, often used in shark fin soup.
As for the shark’s ultimate fate with the Cuomos, Gothamist points to Chris Cuomo’s Instagram photo of the shark, which says, “Grilled it simply with a little Mediterranean rub. Tasty.”
