In the cute clip, VanderWaal is standing next to a vase filled with a gigantic bouquet of purple flowers. Her emotions run wild as she starts to read the accompanying card, jumping up and down in excitement.

“Taylor Swift!” she exclaimed. “Taylor Swift sent me this!”
“Words can not explain how honored I am for this,” the New York native later wrote in the caption. “Thank. You. SOOOOOOO MUCH!!!! @taylorswift13.”
Swift wasn’t the only one putting an extra big smile on VanderWaal’s face, however. Katy Perry was one of the first celebrities to send her a “congrats!” tweet.
Sept 17 (Reuters) – A small bomb exploded in a New Jersey beach town along the route of a planned road race on Saturday morning, causing no injuries but prompting authorities to cancel the event and evacuate dozens of homes as they searched for more devices.
No damage to surrounding structures was reported after the device went off in a garbage container ahead of a 5 km charity race in Seaside Park, a resort about 80 miles south of New York City, the Ocean County prosecutor’s office said on Facebook.
Even so, the explosion stirred dark memories of the deadly blasts at the finish line of the Boston Marathon in 2013 that killed three people and wounded more than 260 others.
The charity run was organized to benefit military veterans and the families of those lost in military service. The run’s name, Seaside Semper Five 5K, is a reference to Semper Fidelis, Latin for “always loyal,” the motto of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Law enforcement authorities have made no comment about a possible motive for the blast.
Authorities were evacuating about 30 homes, many of them summer homes, near the site of the explosion, Ocean County Sheriff Michael Mastronardy said in a phone interview. He said authorities were in the initial phase of their investigation and trying to keep people safe.
A second device was found near the site of the explosion, according to NJ.com, quoting the prosecutor’s spokesman, Al Della Fave. It was not immediately clear whether the second device was detonated, the website reported.
Authorities including the FBI were in the town and were investigating the possibility there was at least one other unexploded device, the office said.
About 5,000 people were set to run the 5 km charity race in Seaside Park, a family-oriented resort known for its beachside boardwalk, a local NBC affiliate reported. The race was to begin at 9 a.m. but was delayed because of late sign-ins and then canceled after the explosion, the affiliate said.
At the 2013 Boston Marathon, two brothers of Chechen ethnicity who professed allegiance to Islamist militants planted homemade bombs near the finish line of the renowned race. The subsequent explosions killed and maimed dozens of bystanders in the most high profile attack on U.S. soil since Sept. 11, 2001.
And the sinkhole seems to be draining into an aquifer that provides drinking water to millions of people. It also feeds water into springs used for recreational activites.
See photos of other infamous sinkholes from around the world:
The water has a radioactive material known as phosphogypsum, a byproduct from using phosphate to create fertilizer. Phosphogypsum is placed into stacks and maintained to limit the amount radioactive material leaking into the air.
Locals around the sinkhole told Newsy’s partners at WFTS that they’re worried about the safety of their drinking water.
“We have a well, and so if it ends up in the aquifer, it’s going to end up with us,” resident Amy Gibson told WFTS.
But officials from the plant say they took the necessary steps required by law when they first noticed the sinkhole.
One way the company is helping to clean up the area is pumping the water that the sinkhole leaked back up through on-site wells.
And the Florida Department of Environmental Protection confirmed that the company “immediately took steps to investigate and initiate corrective action.”
Scandal star and all-around badass Kerry Washington appeared on Real Time with Bill Maher last night to talk about all things Donald Trump. Washington, who is on the September cover of InStyle, spoke out strongly against the deeply troubling candidate, from his laughable maternity leave policy to how the media is encouraging the American public to vote for “the loudest candidate.”
Washington also pointed out we shouldn’t be fooled by Trump’s use of Ivanka Trump and other female spokespeople to make himself look like a more female-friendly candidate. “I think it’s important that we not be distracted by these very smart, very articulate, beautiful women who work on the Trump campaign, who are a lot smarter than the candidate, I think. We need to be not swayed by them because they will not have their finger on the button — he will,” she said.

When Maher brought up the “enthusiasm gap” that Hillary Clinton’s campaign is battling, Washington responded, “I think there’s a bigger problem, which is that right now we are being led by the media — no offense — to vote for the loudest candidate, and the meanest, the bulliest candidate in the playground, and that we are voting based on a cult of personality or a cult of celebrity rather than voting in our best interest. I think if we really look at policy, voting for Trump is voting against our best interests as Americans, as workers, as people of color, as women… Not voting is voting against ourselves. So, voting for Trump is voting against ourselves. Not voting is against ourselves. And I think, in this election, voting for a third party candidate is voting against ourselves.”
Scandal fans will have to wait until the midseason of 2017 for their favorite Gladiators to return to the small screen — as per Washington, she’s “knocked up again!” — but seeing Kerry Washington discuss politics is just as good, if not better, than watching Olivia Pope agonize over Fitz and Jake.
